Multi-instrumentalist Luke Rattenbury is a musician’s musician.
Born in Brighton to English and Ghanaian parents, Luke started playing the guitar at 14 and has plays many styles including Jazz, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Afrobeat and Cuban music.
He has toured Europe with Afrobeat band Lakuta and recorded an album with them, which was released on Brighton’s Tru Thoughts label. He’s a regular on the live Jazz circuit with his Cuban band Son Guarachando – who were recently featured on BBC One’s The One Show – and the band frequently appear at Ronnie Scott’s famous London nightclub.
Luke has also toured Europe and recorded an album in Gambia with Gambian master drummer Mussa M’Boob (Alan Skidmor, Daman Albarn’s Africa Express) and plays regularly across Europe with top Tanzanian musician Saidi Kanda. He has also played at the Barbican, Glastonbury Festival and the Royal Festival Hall.
