Multi-instrumentalist Luke Rattenbury may be a musician’s musician, but his infectious and groovy cover of the Roy Ayers classic Love Will Bring Us Back Together is definitely for everyone!
Not only has Luke played all the instruments on this blazing track, but he’s made a cool video to go with it which is currently causing quite a commotion on social media.
Born in Brighton to English and Ghanaian parents, Luke started playing the guitar at 14 and has plays many styles including Jazz, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Afrobeat and Cuban music.
He toured Europe with Afrobeat band Lakuta and recorded an album with them, which was released on Brighton’s Tru Thoughts label. He’s a regular on the live Jazz circuit with his Cuban band Son Guarachando – who were recently featured on BBC One’s The One Show – and the band frequently appear at Ronnie Scott’s famous London nightclub.
Luke has also toured Europe and recorded an album in Gambia with Gambian master drummer Mussa M’Boob (Alan Skidmor, Daman Albarn’s Africa Express) and plays regularly across Europe with top Tanzanian musician Saidi Kanda. He has also played at the Barbican, Glastonbury Festival and the Royal Festival Hall.
Far from being defined by his musical pedigree, right now, the message is simple: Love Will Bring Us Back Together!
